Our staff will contact you with the following information the day before the surgery

  • Confirmation of the day and time of surgery
  • Information about the patient, including their size and species

On the day of surgery

  • When Dr. John is on his way to your clinic, he will call you and give an estimated time of arrival, and ask to have the patient pre-medicated.
  • Please have a diagnostic radiograph available for our review when we arrive.
  • Please have an intravenous catheter placed and have the patient ready for surgery when the doctor arrives.

Surgery and Post-Op Information

  • Intravenous antibiotics are recommended intra-operatively.
  • Pre-op, intra-op and post-op analgesia is highly recommended.
  • Please make sure that any and all staff present in surgery follow aseptic technique and wear caps and masks to preserve sterility during the procedure.
  • Bandaging and splinting are generally not necessary, but this may change depending on the nature of the procedure. Post-operative care sheets specific to the procedure will be provided.

CVO Regulations

It is mandatory that your clinic has a veterinarian present in the building in case of complications. Our staff will contact you a few days before surgery to:
* Confirm the date and approximate time of surgery
* Confirm information about the patient including their species, age, and size
