When you bring your pet home after their orthopedic surgery, it’s important to keep a close eye on them and restrict their activities. Please contact the clinic as soon as possible:

  • If your pet is vomiting or has diarrhea
  • If your pet is lethargic (and has not been giving sedatives)
  • If they are coughing up to 4 days after surgery
  • If your pet has no interest in food 24 hours after arriving home
  • If your pet has not urinated 12 hours after arriving home
  • If your pet has not had a bowl movement 48 hours after arriving home
  • If your pet shows discomfort even after pain medications have been given
