Rehab & Regenerative Medicine
We utilize regenerative medicine in the form of Platelet Rich Plasma injections
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) injections are a new and innovative approach to managing a pet’s recovery following an injury, orthopedic surgery or in cases of degenerative joint disease.
Platelets are small, colorless cell fragments that are formed in the bone marrow and freely pass through the bloodstream in a resting state. When an injury occurs, platelets are activated and gather at the injury site to release beneficial proteins called growth factors. This begins the first steps of the healing process
We get PRP by taking a small sample of your pets own blood (15mls) and centrifuging it at a rapid speed to separate and concentrate platelets and other beneficial growth factors in the plasma portion of the blood. This concentrated portion of blood is then injected into a targeted area and delivers increased levels of growth factors, which can improve signaling and recruitment of cells to the injury site.
Our team uses Platelet Rich Plasma injections to treat a variety of conditions such as:
Each PRP treatment plan is customized to each patient’s needs, depending on the injury and progression of the patient. The number of follow-up treatments depends on the patient, the condition being treated and how your pet responds to the therapy.
