Outpatient CT Scans<\/h2>\n

Here at Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital, we are fortunate enough to have access to advanced imaging services. Most notably our on site CT scanner. CT scanner also known as a computed tomography scan or as a CAT scan (computerized axial tomography scan), is an imaging modality that uses sophisticated computer software to compile and organize hundreds of x-rays that are taken from multiple angles and put together to form a 3-dimensional image of the object we are studying. In this case our beloved companion animals!<\/span><\/p>\n

For our referring veterinarians, we offer Outpatient CT Scans for advanced diagnostics. If you would like to schedule a CT scan for your patient, we ask that you fill out and submit the Outpatient CT Referral form. We will then contact your client to schedule a date for the CT Scan. After your patient’s CT Scan you will be sent a radiologist report and your patient will be directed back to you, their primary physician, for their continued care.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>

3D Modeling<\/span><\/h2>\n

One of the most fascinating and crucial applications our CT scanner is used for is the surgical planning and treatment of angular limb deformities. Angular limb deformities are conditions that usually appear in young patients that have suffered trauma to their growth plates. The most common angular limb deformity we see involves the front limbs at the level of the distal radius and ulna (compared to humans our hands and wrist). For this condition we can perform a CT scan of the whole limb and by using 3-dimensional rendering, we can make a 3D model of the limb. Those scans can then be utilized by our 3D printer to print a to-scale-model of the limb which will aid Dr. John in his pre-surgical planning and measurements. In addition to helping pre-plan surgery, Dr. John can actually perform the surgery first on the model to ensure a perfect surgical outcome for the patient. You have all heard the saying measure twice cut once, and with the help of our CT scanner and 3D printing capabilities we can not not only measure twice but can also cut twice or as many times needed to ensure the best possible surgical correction and outcome before a patient is ever under the knife.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
